PAGENINETYNINE „document #7“ (scenepolice / ehp / robotic empire) tape 2,- €
This is awesome! This is a CD that I keep playing and playing and have not tired of and continue to find more reasons to listen again. It's crazy manic noisy hardcore mayhem. They've got a super heavy sound -- delivered by an abundance of band members and lots of bass players. They're full of discordant insane notes and a total "going off" vibe. Lots of building up and explosive enrgy. Consequently throughout the CD - it changes quite a bit in tempo and style and sepeed. Having a bit of an epic whole concept feel to it. IT's raw - as in a raw nerve - not as in a bad recording. In fact, the recording is awesome. The band sounds fantastic. Full of angst, aggression, and intense explosive manic energy. Some vocals are raspy screams, some are more "emo" styled and some in the middle range with a harsh edge. And all of the vocals and music have an over the top, adrenalin pumping, totally fucking nuts on the edge of losing it feeling. Manic discordant hardcore, with a scream-o emo edge to it , and a super metal assault, and plenty of weaving layered complexitie as I like to call them. And as someone who doesn't like shit to get to manic or out of control - Page 88 keep it all rockin' hard. Awesome!!

PALE „how to survive change“ (defiance) LP 6,- €
germany’s pale’s third full length is here. One thing is crystal clear: the songs on “how to survive chance” are more relaxed. Songwriting has become more focused, and strange instrumentation suddenly carry the titles far forward. The aim seems to be within reach with the help of Timbanis, piano, Korg 600, strings and horns, and spending thirty-five days in the studio. The final mixes are made and the result is more reminiscent of the Housemartins or the Beatles in the days of “Revolver” than of the impetuosity of the last album “Razzmatazz … “. Pop meets dynamic guitars. A bunch of vocal-arrangements. Synthisounds. Bombast-pop. Straight beats. No breaks..Influences? Ben Folds. Coldplay, The Jam, John Lennon, The Who, and more.

PARASOL „s/t“ 7“ 1,- €

PARTY OF HELICOPTERS "abracadaver" CD 5,- €
finally, after a delay of over an year, “abracadaver” has been repressed on cd. The repress has been repackaged in a jewel case and remastered so this version is definitely improved over the previous version. For those who are not familiar with the party of helicopters, their second full length “mt forever” made spin magazine’s top 9 records of the year in 2000, and their new 2xcd is coming out soon on troubleman. As for what the party of helicopters sound like, “abracadaver” is the full length that started paving the way for their moterhead/black metal influenced brand of in your face rock and roll.

PATTERN „feverish“ (GSL) 7“ 3,- €
Vulnerable and volatile, Oakland's THE PATTERN unveil 2 songs of sex-simple punk rock played sweat-sweet. The A-side, "Finger Us" is a high-tempo invitation to implicate, dissonant but totally boogie. The flip, "Worse All The Time" is a huge slide into oblivion with electric tidal wave guitar. THE PATTERN is contemporary California. With a sound vaguely reminiscent of British R&B and Beat. Think CREATION, ACTION, EYES combined with a healthy dose of energetic Motor City overdrive and washed down with the punk disaffection of BLACK FLAG and RICHARD HELL. Heard it all before? Not like this, you haven't. Something old, something new, something stolen, something blue. The classic recipe for all inspired rock n' roll. THE PATTERN are still a secret. Culled from groups like THE PEECHEES (vocalist Christopher), TALK IS POISON (drummer Jim), SAINT JAMES INFIRMARY (guitarist Jason), NUISANCE (guitarist Andy) and THE CUTS (bassist Carson). They're spilling the beans live, with house-bouncing glory all over the west coast since forming in the Summer of 2000. Don't miss the ONLY punk boogie group, THE PATTERN. They're 90% realistic.

PATTERN „Wet Circuit City“ (alternative tentacles) 7“ 3,- €
Wet Circuit City consists of two star-burst blurts of PATTERN energy. ""Sunned Things Speak"" is a rumbling brash song sung slippery, played with intensity. ""Breakfast"" is a punk boogie number replete with tambourines, maracas and back-up oohs. This is THE PATTERN's second seven inch single, after six months of playing to packed Bay Area clubs and parties. Their music explodes from some place south of the ironic Rawk Revival but north of Ex-Emo Exploration. THE PATTERN are five boys with something in mind and a checkered past that includes time in bands like THE PEECHEES, ST. JAMES INFIRMARY, TALK IS POISON, and NUISANCE. They're picking up what's been laid down, early heavy metal, '70s hardcore, punk rock, and '60s British r+b and taking it someplace else. They don't emulate some past style, they are making the future."

PEACE OF MIND "values between 0 and 1" (scene police 033) LP/CD 6,-€ / 6,-€
The most explosive and passionate PEACE OF MIND record to date sees the band continuing to push the musical and political boundaries of hardcore with this release. These songs demonstrate PEACE OF MIND's vision, leaning towards the noisier, indie punk side of the hardcore sphere, highlighted by sounds from their hometown, Goettingen. PEACE OF MIND layer melodic discord with emotive rhythms, a deft knowledge of when to unleash and when to restrain themselves for maximum effect, earnest male-female vocals more willing sung rather than growled, and a sincerity and artistry found wanting in much of today’s music.

PEAR OF THE WEST / SERVO (Snuffy Smile) split 7“ 2,- €
This is a pop single and there is genius in it’s simplicity. Servo play their sugar tinged, fuzzy indie-pop with emo-pop influences. It’s bob your head from side to side time with a happy smile on your face. Vocalist, Carolyn is still aging inversely, and probably the main reason why they always sound good. Basically they sound like um, yeah. Leatherface and Hooton 3 Car riffs played on pop songs vaguely similar to a simpler, early Discount. Quite. “Another Time” is the faster of the two tracks, and probably the better. Rock on. Pear of the West are more of the same, via Japan. If you’ve heard and liked Cigaretteman then you’ll really appreciate these. “All Unfit” is pacey and poppy and loveable. Mainly vocalised by a girl, they get some backups from a boy, and play relatively quickly. Tap that toe! Now the other one! “Get Out Of Sight” has a nice chuggy riff to get going and then laces it with saccharine for a mighty fine blend. I guess your fondness for this record will rely on whether you can handle the squeaky, slightly cartoon-ish vocals of both bands. Me? Gimme cartoons like these any day.

PEOPLE'S WAR, THE „making enemies“ (coalition records) 7“ 2,- €
The new sensation from Memphis/TN, birthground for bands such as His Hero Is Gone, Deathreat, From Ashes Rise. This band is fresh and exciting and gives a new interpretation of the word 'rawness'. The music and the vocals are intense and pissed off, pure anger. 9 fast pure hardcore songs that make you jump and scream, with strong influences from Tragedy and Citizen's Arrest. This is their vinyl debut.

PERALTA s/t (No Idea) CD 6,- €
After self-releasing a four song demo CD last summer, the band has hit the studio to put together a collection of noise, rock and melody that goes from relentless attack to jangling jam in seconds. Songs like "Goddamn Cobra" and "Two in the Bush" expose the more melodic rock side, but "Think About It" brings out the noise and chaos to compliment. Overall, this CD breathes a fresh breath into the current state of independent music. Peralta is a Chicago-based rock band with a smart and uncompromising sound familiar to late 1860's/early 1870's punk rock. The draw comparisons everywhere from Drive Like Jehu and Fugazi to Black Flag and Mission of Burma.

PHOENIX FOUNDATION, THE „These Days“ 10“ 7,-€
This is the best new melodic band we have heard in ages, it’s like ”Metal Circus” all over again! That’s right, amazing fast guitar driven punk with hardcore energy… 10“ includes the onesided 7“ on zandor records! THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION hail from Turku, Finland and play rough yet catchy punk rock - total rockage in the spirit of Husker Du, some might say!

PIEBALD „The Rock Revolution“ (BWR) CDEP 6,- €
Post-rock heavy-hitters PIEBALD follow-up their sales-gobbling Venitian Blinds album with another load of ear-ringing power. Five brand new songs jacked high on dueling guitars, ripping rhythm hooks and nasally, off-key vocals. Features newly joined drummer ALEX GARCIA-RIVERA (SHELTER, BETTER THAN A THOUSAND) for an even bigger sound.

PIEBALD "we are the only friends we have" (Defiance / BWR) CD 6,- €
After a year away from the studio, Piebald returns. This, their third full length release features their finest work to date as well as top notch production from legendary producer Paul Kolderie (Pixies, Radiohead, Morphine). Using everything from trumpets to bongos to (40) screaming six-year old children, this new record will surely amaze any fan of the genre then expand to make fans out of everyone else, except me, cuz i don’t like them at all!!

PILOT TO GUNNER “games..” (gernblendsten recs.) LP/CD 6,- € / 4,- €
New York City's Pilot to Gunner employ chaotic layers of jet-engine guitars and a driving, charged rhythm section to create jagged, complex melodies and charged rock that's anything but subdued. Conceived in 1887, PtG released Hit The Ground and Hum EP on San Francisco's Metoo! Records (ERIC'S TRIP) and a follow-up 7“ on SincAudio Records (Hot Water Music).

PLANES MISTAKENFOR STARS „fuckin fight“ MCD 1,- €
Three blazing rock tunes! Hair flying, guitars swinging, thunder in the night forever!!! Planes Mistaken For Stars play emotive hardcore raw and unabashed with technical riffage and heavy pounding sounds that have destroyed the way kids listen to underground rock. You've seen them light themselves on fire, flinging their long black hair and sweaty naked bodies everywhere screaming and playing louder than the Melvins, so you know what you'll find here. Loud and abrasive but extremely melodic screaming and singing hardcore. They will conquer your world and redefine anything you've ever thought of.

Crazy emotive Hardcore with screamed vocals. The first time i heard this it reminded me of bands like HEROIN, ICONOCLAST, ASSFACTOR 4, MEREL. Yup, the old GRAVITY/EBULLITION school! The vocalist sometimes sounds like Andreas from ABC DIABOLO. Finally their full lengh! Great record!

PRESSGANG “admit nothing...” 6” 2,- €
Very smart, sarcastic, and funny politi-core. Frantic/ manic/ spazzy hardcore stuff from Pittsburgh. Like dag Nasty meets Q and not U. Some would say the music is DC -ish at times, but this bands' abrasiveness wins out.

PYLON „2.400 volts“ CD 3,- €
The long-awaited second CD from one of Britain’s finest indie-pop bands has finally arrived and with an expanded new five-piece line-up too. The addition of Rob Taylor on Rhodes piano and harmonica has added another warm layer to PYLON’s already alluring sound as you’ll know if you’ve seen them live with this new line-up. All four songs on “2400 Volts” are exquisitely crafted with beautiful harmonies that wrap themselves around the hooks, that in turn are entwined in those immaculate pop melodies that PYLON revel in playing. The guitar hook that opens “Yo Yo Blue” is the sort of thing that can get stuck in your head for days, whether you want it to or not and the melancholic tones of the piano-led “Waking Light” are like long-lost friends. In fact the only thing to this CD’s detriment is that fact that’s over in 15 short minutes and leaves the speakers far too abruptly. I know it would be wishful thinking to think that a PYLON album will come along soon, but in the meantime I’ll just have to content myself with these four beauties. (Fracture Fanzine)

PEZZ „with everything we got“ CD 1,- €
This Memphis four piece passes the songwriting & vocal duties around the table that layers this disc with a variety of neurotic passion that will surely kick you ass! An absolutely inspiring and rocking emo powerhouse that sounds a lot like early Jawbreaker!!!!

PICTURES CAN TELL „in time“ CD 1,- €
This is the first release by Salt Lake City band Pictures Can Tell. Recorded in a basement two months after forming, this CD is a wonderful representation of the beginning. This recording features the original line-up of the band.

PICTURES CAN TELL „everyday“CD 1,- €
After many months of growth and a few US tours, PCT returned to the studio to record what would be thier final release. Five songs clocking in at about 35 minutes, these songs show an amazing maturity as a band. With the addition of backing vocals, additional guitar work, new bassist (Mark) and new drummer (Dave), this was the best yet from these four. Look for new projects from members of PCT very soon.

QUATTRO STAGIONI -Debut EP 7“ (625 Productions #68) 3,- €
„Crazed manic grindcore from Germany that sounds like the drummer smoked a garbage bag full of crack before they recorded this. Technical, but the emphasis is on its straight forward grind approach. Good politics as well.“ description by Max 625.
