BABIES THREE / HOUSTON(Superfi records) split 7" 0,50 €
The first HOUSTON track is fantastic, very original in sound and structure,
with maybe a little SENSEFIELD sensibility thrown in.... BABIES 3 are
one of the best UK hardcore bands doing the rounds right now and don't
disappoint with their two contributions.... comes on nice thick white
plastic and is worth picking up, even solely for the first HOUSTON track
as that really is a cracking song
BABIES-THREE, THE „a hole where my heart should be“ (Scene
Police 012) LP 1,- €
You should know this amazing UK emo band from their three way - split
CD with Sunfactor and Rydell. The Babies play mid-paced melancholic
rock mixed with forceful and passionate hardcore sounds as the foundation
for excellent thick riffs and screamed vocals. A really pleasant surprise
that sounds a bit like the newer Grade stuff...

BLINDSPOT A.D. „knowledge vs. fear“ (per koro) CD 4,- €
After 7 years struggling in the german underground and releasing a couple
of tapes, CDR´s, compilation-tracks, split 7“s and an outstanding
7“ep entitled „pain is not the cleanser“ – it
was worth waiting for the debut full-length of this south german grind-force!!!
BLINDSPOT A.D. improved within the last years and have found an unique
heavy sound hardly compareable to any other band. The mixture makes
this 36 minutes lasting mayhem so special: Intense chaotic hardcore
elements team up with sheer deathmetal brutality - dark emotional melodies
collapse with blasting grindcore. You can feel the hate and anger which
is conveyed through the apocalyptic and mis-anthropic but political
aware lyrics screamed out on top of it! Packed in an eyecatch-ing artwork
done by André Liegl, the sound quality of this 10 songs will
blow you away – engineered by Bernhard Hahn (Dawnbreed, Atrocity..)
and finally mastered at Morrisound Recordings, which is famous for the
work they have done in the 80ies – you can call this a fat production!

Debut release from keith vogelsong, aka the blue hour. The two tracks
on this record (which were recorded in his newark apartment bedroom)
borrow elements from mogwai, bright eyes, and the likes to display dynamic
and emotional results. The blue hour may be a single person, but you

tracks layering both sides of this seven inch. Kevin from joshua fit
for battle lends a hand or two on side a with some drum work.

€
"I've Filled Up These Pages" is The Blue Hour's follow up
to a two song 7“ on the EHP. The eight tracks on this full length
are much more matured then previous work, and find the use of breakbeats,
piano, and effects much more prominent. The solo act borrow ideas brought

Division to produce dynamic and mystical sounds & feelings.

Split release between these two politically conscious groups. Bread
And Circuits (Featuring members of Torches to Rome, Swing Kids, Yaphet
Kotto) play explosive and high energy hardcore while Former Members
of Alfonsin let loose some straight edge emotional hardcore with a torrent
of anti-fascism rhetoric. Think Rites of Spring with a serious left
wing slant.
BUCK „Hello Holland“ (kasual recs.) CD 7,- €
With influences from bands like ARCHERS OF LOAF, SUPERCHUNK and WEEZER
the band has created an amazing follow up to the critically aclaimed
debut earlier this year. Most of the material on this 9 song disc was
actually written during the period of 1886-1888 with the exception of
Hello Holland and Sleep, it’s dark which were created during the
studio sessions. Hello Holland, the track, is a truly amazing 20 minutes
long improvisational track that was recorded in one take. Sleep, it’s
dark is an 7 minutes long track based on loops.
BULLYRAG AKA FUCKING THUNDER „hearts speak arson“ (code
of ethics) CD 3,- €
BURIED INSIDE "suspect Simetry" CD 3,- €
This Canadian band return with their second full-length release. Brooding
& tortured screamy-emo that’s reminscent of a more metal version
of the mid-’80s Canadian style screamo bands like One Eye God
Prophecy, Union Of Uranus, Jonah, Drift, etc. Dissonant, driving guitars
and anguished, harsh vocal fury with a politcal lyrics. Very nice layout
as well.
BURY ME STANDING „empires today/ashes tomorrow“ (code of
ethics) MCD 3,- €
This is the Bury Me Standing cdep. A similar feel as their split with
This Machine Kills. Alternating vocal styles, and contrasting mosh/driving
guitar lines. Each CD is individually packed with burnt matches. Interesting.
BURY ME STANDING / MADELINE FERGUSON (warmachine recs.) SPLIT CD 4,-€
6 songs by each band. Madeline Ferguson crams melody, anger, a little
metal(good 70's metal!), and what some would call 'screamo' into 6 songs
worth of emo/hardcore frenzy. Bury Me Standing offer up a slab of very
angry, political minded, hardcore with less melody than Madeline Ferguson.
This is Bury Me Standing's Last 6 songs ever.
BAD LUCK 13 RIOT EXTRAVAGANCA „WE KILL CHILDREN“ CD 1,-
€

slow metal heaviness with rough, ugly vocals, dememented lyrics, and

wire, ladders, GG Allin, fireworks, plenty of blood & ugly, inhuman
deathish vocals & dirgy metallic riffs. Known for getting shows
shut down & starting full scale riots, this also includes a live
set to give you a better idea...
BALTIMORE IN LOVE “s/t” 1,- €
BETTER DAYS AHEAD-demo 1,- €
BIBLICAL PROOF OF UFO'S „s/t“ (Superfi records) CD 1,-
€
From the clean-cut college guys that comprise Biblical Proof Of UFO's
you wouldn't have them pegged as heavy fucking rockers. But the FU MANCHU
shirt lurking under one of their leather jackets gives them away. Oh,
and the opening riffs of "16 & 3" pretty much give the
game away too, seeing as how they swipe you upside the jaw with thick
guitars, a pounding bass and a hard-hitter wielding two drumsticks.
Something tells you right about then that these guys genuinely are made
from flesh, bone and rock music. You may by now have noticed the proliferate
use of the word "rock" in this review and that's exactly what
Biblical Proof are...a rock band without any iffy vocals to taint the
boiled-down-to-its-essence rock they play. As they even state on their
thanks list: "A double-shot of love to the drunken jackasses in
attendance at our performances who apparently felt it helpful, clever
or somehow even germaine to shout "Where's your singer?".
Your wit, each of you was priceless." Spot on. The astute among
you may also have thought, "Hang on, he's describing KARMA TO BURN
here surely?". Aye maybe, and to that I can only say, "So
fucking what? You want something more?"
